Our History
The University of Sarajevo (Univerzitet u Sarajevu) was founded on November 15, 1949, as the first university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in the capital city of Sarajevo, the university has grown to become the premier institution of higher education in the country.
Throughout its history, the University of Sarajevo has maintained its commitment to academic excellence, fostering critical thinking, and contributing to the social, cultural, and economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
Today, the university consists of 30 faculties and academies, offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across various fields of study.
